Welcome to the Columbia Windham Soccer
Alliance
Micro and Mini Micro.
We hope you find this information
useful, helpful, and friendly.
Our club provides recreational and
competitive opportunities for hundreds of
children in grades K – 8, and in 2009 even
began a program for Pre-K children.
Our club’s overall main mission is to
teach soccer and to stress both the fun and
fitness aspects of being involved with our
sport.
In addition, we teach teamwork, fair
play, and sportsmanship.
Finally, as our children get older, we
encourage the community building between the
towns and residents of Columbia and
Windham.
Micro (Grades K – 2) Soccer is town-based and
offered in both Columbia
and Windham.
Micro Soccer is co-ed, and players are
provided with a beautiful World Cup-inspired
international jersey.
We stress the fun elements of sports
and teach individual ball control and ball
skills.
Depending on the number of children,
teams are formed by grades, and parents are
asked to step up as team coaches (working with
a coaching leader who provides drills and
skills).
The 2nd grade focuses more on team play
on the larger fields, and players are taught
positions (not that they necessarily learn
them!).
In fall of 2009, CWSA began to host
Mini-Jamborees, in which the 2nd grade teams
visit each other in their respective towns.
In the fall of 2009, our club offered for the
first time Mini Micro for pre-k children.
Started initially as a pilot program in
Columbia, Mini is now offered in
both Columbia
and Windham.
The complete focus of Mini Micro is on
ball control and games with a soccer ball.
All parents are asked to participate to
play with their own and other parents’
children.
All players are outfitted in a tee
shirt.
No teams are formed, but players spend
some time shooting into goals.
