CWSA is instituting a spectator protocol that formalizes the code of conduct all parents sign at the beginning of each season.
The protocol is as follows:
Spectators are to refrain from making any comments to players, coaches, or referees but are permitted to applaud efforts by players. The purpose is to provide each player with games that are free of distractions caused by spectators screaming and yelling at them. To be clear, coaches are permitted to coach and direct players but should also not be questioning referee calls unless they are seeking clarification.
The guidelines are simple: Spectators are to be quiet talking in a normal tone to the person next to them. What is to be avoided are comments that can be heard by players, referees or opponents. Applause is permitted and encouraged.
This protocol allows for:
1. Players to hear and learn to follow COACHES' directions, not their parents. This helps the player become a better player.
2. Players to hear and practice speaking TO EACH OTHER on the field. Players are quieter than parents and can't be heard over them.
3. To discourage any commentary ABOUT referees or TO the referees. This is being viewed as referee abuse and CJSA is looking to come down hard on any club or team that is being perceived as negatively talking to or about referees.
What happens if we receive further reports that spectators are NOT following this policy? The next step is to remove the spectators from the field. Parents should be reminding each other of the policy. We DO NOT have the manpower to police individual families, so to avoid being fined and reprimanded by CJSA and the referee assignors the next step will be for the club to institute a NO SIDELINES policy. To be clear, the ability to watch the game is what's at stake if we as a club do not do better. Parents represent the club just as much as the coaches and players.
2. Los jugadores deben escuchar y practicar hablando entre sí en el campo. Los jugadores son más silenciosos que los padres y no se les puede escuchar.
3. Para desalentar cualquier comentario SOBRE los árbitros o PARA los árbitros. Esto se considera un abuso del árbitro y CJSA busca castigar duramente a cualquier club o equipo que sea percibido como alguien que habla negativamente con los árbitros o acerca de ellos.
¿Qué sucede si recibimos más informes de que los espectadores NO siguen esta política? El siguiente paso es sacar a los espectadores del campo. Los padres deben recordarse mutuamente la política. NO tenemos la mano de obra para vigilar a las familias individuales, por lo que para evitar ser multado y reprendido por CJSA y los árbitros asignadores, el siguiente paso será que el club instituya una política SIN LÍNEAS LATERAL. Para ser claros, la capacidad de ver el juego es lo que está en juego si nosotros, como club, no lo hacemos mejor. Los padres representan al club tanto como los entrenadores y los jugadores.
